Lev Eisha   A joyous community of Jewish women engaged in prayer, study and spiritual growth

Spring and Pesach are here! Happy Rosh Chodesh Nissan!

Join us on April 5, 2008 (29th of Adar II, 5768) promptly at 9:30 a.m. The Torah portion is Tazria from the book of Leviticus. Our service will be led by Rabbi Toba August and Cindy Paley.

Bring your tambourine and please be on time so that you won't miss a minute of the uplifting music that characterizes our prayer community!

We have a Kiddush in search of a sponsor! If you would like to sponsor this month's Kiddush in honor, or in memory, of someone special, please contact our catering committee today at catering@leveisha.org.

This month your kosher chef is taking some time off to read the new Lev Eisha Pesach Cookbook and get inspired. I suggest that you do the same.

Didn't get it at the Seder or the Wagner Weekend? It's not too late! Contact sherrill@leveisha.org and arrange to pick up your copy for $18. (Soon you'll even be able to order your cookbook -- or Haggadah -- online from our website.)

I also suggest that you pick up a few copies and give them as hostess gifts for all of the Pesach meals you'll be enjoying in the homes of friends and family.

A Moment of Inspiration

In Anticipation of the Barley Harvest
by Judith Cohen

No one respects parsley.
Parsley is a joke told by Jewish children
      at Pesach time.
Who eats parsley? We use it more as a garnish
      than an herb.
Why do we eat parsley for Pesach?

Why parsley?

What is parsley?

Parsley is green.
It branches like a little tree.
It has little leaves.
Parsley is spring.
Parsley is anticipation.
It's the first thing we eat.
It doesn't have to be parsley, just a green herb.
But it's always parsley.
Except when papa chooses a scallion instead.
      A green onion.

Thank you!

Special thanks, kudos, and much gratitude to the tireless Seder committee. In addition to our board members and volunteers, a special committee led by Susie Yure and Sherrill Kushner made our Women's Seder and Fundraiser an event to remember.

May everyone who put their heart and soul into this event continue to be blessed with unending strength and inspiration for the upcoming holiday!
